BKA Builders is a true custom home builder — every set of plans drawn for your family, your land, and the way you actually live. Reach out to our family to get your dream home started. The first conversation is on us.
The home-building industry uses the word "custom" loosely. Some builders mean swapping cabinet colors on a developer's stock plan. At BKA Builders, custom means what the word actually says: every set of plans is drawn for your family and your lot. Brian and Debbie Adams sit down with you, listen to how your family lives, walk the land, and the plans grow from there.
Custom here isn't a style — it's a starting point. The kitchen lands where your morning light is, the mudroom sits where the family actually comes in, the back porch faces the view you bought the lot for. Nothing gets placed because it worked on the last house; every wall, doorway, and window answers to how your household moves through a day. That's the difference between a plan that's drawn and a home that's designed.
What you get: a home that fits your life, your land, and your aesthetic — supported by a vetted supplier network that keeps decisions manageable. What you don't get: a watered-down version of someone else's house.
Most builders have a long list of "no." We try to start every conversation with "yes" — and then walk you honestly through what each yes costs and what it changes downstream. It's how BKA homeowners describe the experience to friends.
We went with BKA because they said yes to everything.

Move the master, add a wing, open the kitchen, design a downstairs office. The plan exists to serve the family, not the other way around.
Steep grade, narrow infill, wooded ridge, family acreage — the home is designed around what your land actually is.
Modern farmhouse, traditional brick, low-country, contemporary — if you can describe it, we can build it. We've built across most NC styles.
Brought a tile you love from a different supplier? We won't say no — we'll get as close as possible through our trusted suppliers, usually with something equivalent or better.
Every "yes" comes with an honest quote and timeline impact in writing — before the change happens. That's the BKA discipline.
This is the part most builders fumble. A custom home means a thousand decisions — siding color, stone type, tile pattern, flooring, paint, cabinet style, fixtures, hardware, lighting, trim. Without guidance, that becomes paralyzing. With too much restriction, the home stops feeling like yours.
BKA's answer is a curated selection network. We've worked with the same suppliers for 20 to 25 years and know which products hold up in NC homes. From those suppliers we present a tightly edited menu — roughly six stones, eight sidings, ten tiles, eight flooring options — that we'll stand behind for decades.
That curation is what we used to call "semi-custom." It was never about the plans — the plans are always drawn for you. It's about making the selection process feel like good design rather than option overload.
Three reasons families across the Triad come to BKA for their custom home — and why they refer their neighbors after.

A custom home is only worth it if it lasts. BKA builds with materials and methods chosen to hold up in North Carolina for decades, not seasons — every system, from framing to finish, held to a standard meant to outlast the mortgage. The home you move into is the one your family still recognizes twenty years later.
Brian is NASCLA-accredited and a military veteran. Debbie is a NC native and licensed Realtor. We know the soils in Stokesdale, the slopes in Summerfield, the permit cadence in Guilford and Forsyth counties, and the trades who do the best work in each.
"Custom" should mean meaningfully different, not paint-color different. Here's what's open on every BKA build.
Every change is quoted in writing before you approve it — no surprises later.
Every one of these started as a blank page. Every one of them is different.
A clear sequence so you always know what's next.
BKA Builders was founded by Brian Adams — a military veteran and NASCLA-accredited Licensed Building Contractor — and Debbie Adams, a North Carolina native and licensed Realtor. Between them they've spent most of their lives in the building business, with more than 25 years and hundreds of completed homes across the Triad.
That kind of local depth matters on a custom build. We know the soils in Stokesdale, the slope challenges in Summerfield, the permit cadence in Guilford and Forsyth counties, and the trades who do the best work in each. That experience is how we keep your timeline tight and your price honest.
Yes. Every BKA home is custom. We don't work from a plan library or stock plans — every set of plans is drawn around the family, the lot, and the way you actually live. Brian and Debbie Adams personally lead every project from first conversation through final walk-through.
No. Because every home is drawn for the customer, there is no library of pre-drawn plans on this site. Our construction documents are highly detailed builder blueprints rather than simplified marketing floor plans — they're most useful sitting across a table with us. The first conversation is the right place to start sketching what your home should look like.
What BKA sometimes called semi-custom was never about the plans — it referred to the selection process. We curate a vetted list of stones, sidings, tiles, flooring, cabinetry and fixtures from suppliers we've worked with for 20 to 25 years. Curated selections keep design decisions manageable without limiting your home. The plans themselves are always fully custom.
We rarely say no. If you have a specific product or finish in mind, bring it to the table. We'll do our best to match it through our trusted suppliers — usually with something equivalent or better. Our 20- to 25-year supplier relationships are part of how we hold quality and timelines, which is why we lead with them.
Yes. If you already have a plan you love, bring it. We'll review it with you, talk through the lot fit and any modifications, and quote the build from there. Many BKA projects begin with a sketch on a napkin or a saved Pinterest board — either is a fine starting point.
Throughout Greensboro and the Triad — including High Point, Winston-Salem, Burlington, Kernersville, Summerfield, Oak Ridge, Stokesdale, Reidsville, Browns Summit, Colfax and Jamestown. We build on land you already own or help you find the right lot.
Most BKA builds run 7 to 10 months from groundbreaking. Design and selections happen before that and depend on how quickly the family makes decisions. Because Brian leads the schedule personally, the build cadence is predictable once we're in the ground.
Pricing varies by square footage, lot work, plan complexity and selections. The free first consultation is the right place to talk specifics. What you'll get from us, either way, is an honest number — not an estimate engineered to win the contract.
Tell us about your land, your timeline, and the kind of home you have in mind. The first conversation is on us — with a real owner, not a sales rep.
